For many people, their home IS their greatest asset! With this in mind, there comes a need to protect your investment along with protecting yourself!

Homeowners Insurance plays a vital role in the protection of your home! It protects you against many perils relating to the weather and certain mishaps uncontrollable by you. Home ownership also brings new issues of responsibility that can be protected by liability coverage as well.

Homeowners Insurance is not just an exclusive coverage for homeowners but is available to renters, condominium and townhouse owners as well.

The agents at Personal Insurance Professionals can assist you in making sure that you obtain the protection you need suitable to you and your home. It is important that you will be properly taken care of in case of a claim and that's where we can help. Finding out that you were not properly covered during a claim can be even more traumatic than the incident itself. Our agents will thoroughly review your needs to make sure that this scenario is not the case. We use only reputable companies and will place you with the company that is suited for you and your present needs. Some important issues to consider is not only the Insurance Company but coverages that are available to you.

You may also be interested in reviewing some of the present homeowners coverage's available along with a brief description of each:

Coverage A – Dwelling
The dollar amount carried to cover your home and any structures attached directly to it. Ideally, the amount of coverage you carry should equal the cost of rebuilding your home after a total loss.

Coverage B – Other Structures
If you have detached structures such as a garage, fence or swimming pool, this coverage protects them.

Coverage C – Personal Property
This coverage protects your belongings. Furniture, appliances, clothing, and similar property are covered up to a percentage of your Coverage A limit. This percentage is typically 60% of Coverage A, but can be increased if necessary. Your Homeowners Policy limits the amount you can collect for such items as jewelry, furs and watches. To ensure you have the proper protection for these items, specific coverage is available, which is called scheduling. Our Valuable Articles section offers more information.

Coverage D – Loss of Use
Loss of Use pays for the extra cost of living if you cannot live in your home due to a covered loss by your policy.

Coverage E – Personal Liability
Personal Liability protects you from claims against you for injury to others or their property. Limits of up to $500,000 are available on the homeowner policy.  More coverage is available with a Personal Liability Policy.  Many companies are limited to $1 or $2 million coverage.  Personal Insurance Professionals can secure up to $50 million of liability where needed.

Optional Coverages - Important optional coverages include:

  • Home Replacement Guarantee/Extended Dwelling coverage providing coverage above Coverage A limits if needed
  •  Increased Building Ordinance coverage to pay the extra costs of upgrades to meet building codes
  • Replacement Cost Contents pays the full value of your belongings rather than payment at depreciated value
  • Scheduled Personal Property for specific coverage on valuable items such as jewelry, art, antiques and silver.
