Tom
Ellis graduated from Hillcrest High School in Dallas and received a BBA
from SMU in 1964. He joined Ellis and Smith, Inc. and continued there
until its sale in August of 1984. Tom operated Ellis Insurance and
Bonds for 10 years. In 1994, Tom merged his agency with Charlie
Sammon's agency to form Sammons & Ellis Incorporated. In 1998, he
joined McQueary Henry Bowles Troy, LLP as a principal.
In
the tradition of his father and grandfather before him, Tom has focused
on both bonds and insurance for the construction industry.
Tom and his wife, Ann Day, have two daughters, Jennifer Newman and Leanne DiLeo, and
three grandchildren, Taylor Newman, Anna Grace DiLeo, and Porter Newman.
Certifications/Associations
Tom
has earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU),
Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and Certified Insurance Counselor
designations (CIC). In January, 2005 Tom completed his Certified Risk
Manager (CRM) designation.
Mr.
Ellis has served as President of the Independent Insurance Agents of
Dallas, Chairman of the Dallas Insurance Placement Board, President of
the Dallas Society of CPCU, and an Elder at Northwest Bible Church. He
is an active member of the Associated General Contractors, the American
Subcontractors Association, Associated Builders and Contractors, the
National Association of Surety Bond Producers, and the Independent
Insurance Agents of America. He has served on many committees of AGC,
ASA, ABC, CPCU, IIAD, and IIAT. Tom is a member of the board of
Peacemaker Ministries and serves in Celebrate Recovery at his church.
