  LONG TERM CARE

Long-Term CareLong-term care insurance is rapidly becoming the most sought after employee benefit. MHBT has a long-term care specialist who can answer your questions about Long-term care. Questions such as:

  • Is the premium deductible?
  • Can we carve out owners and executives?
  • Can we offer alternate plans for different classes of employees?
  • Can family members purchase coverage through an employer- sponsored plan?

Your employee's awareness of this excellent benefit is growing at a rapid pace. The 1997 National Council on Aging and Long-term care survey reports that over 70% of the respondents would like for their employer to offer long-term care. Long-term care was the single benefit most desired by employees in the William M. Mercer, Inc. 1998 Survey on Employee Benefit Preferences.

Benefit Managers should know:

  • The number of households providing elder care has tripled in the last decade.
  • The number of baby boomers providing long-distance elder care is expected to triple in the next 15 years.
  • 1 out of 5 employees providing care, gave up work either temporarily or permanently. Estimated replacement costs average 75% of the annual salary of the employee who quits.
  • Elder care will replace child care in the next century as the #1 dependent care issue, because 1 out of 3 workers will be caring for an aging family member.
  • Thirty-five percent of employees who are caregivers said they miss at least one day of work in a typical month due to caregiving.

Let us custom design a plan for your employees that is meaningful now, and at claim time.
